A PreK-3rd Coalition: How Three School Districts Accomplished More Together Than Alone

This brief highlights how three school districts joined forces to leverage their PreK-3rd grade efforts. Formed in 2011, the PreK-3rd Cross District Leadership Coalition brought together leaders from the Edmonds, Everett, and Seattle school districts in Washington. Some of the cross-district work included defining and communicating school readiness; improving teachers’ instructional practices across PreK-3rd grade; developing clear transitions among PreK-3rd grade; expanding leadership capacity; strengthening family and community engagement; and influencing state level support and decision-making around PreK-3rd grade work.
