The National P-3 Center is honored to have been selected by the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) to update their 2014 publication, Leading Pre-K-3 Learning Communities: Competencies for Effective Principal Practice. We are refreshing this document to reflect up-to-date research, the ever-changing policy environment, and the evolving needs of the field. We are also ensuring the guidance in the document is balanced across the full PreK-3rd Grade continuum (paying equitable attention to all grades).
In collaboration with NAESP leadership, we are updating the document through a series of tasks:
- Conducting discovery interviews with thought leaders in the field;
- Convening a review panel of practicing principals and other key stakeholders;
- Reviewing recent and relevant literature; and
- Gathering spotlights of elementary schools that showcase exemplary PreK-3rd grades strategies.
The new publication will be released at NAESP’s Annual Pre-K-8 Principals Conference in Louisville, Kentucky on July 12-14, 2020.
